Brilliant Blanes Holidays

One of the Costa Brava’s oldest and best loved resorts, Blanes was the wild child of the 50’s. The resort has now grown into a “settled” phase where families come to enjoy a Spanish holiday specially geared towards all their needs. The huge rock of Sa Palomera, jutting out of the Mediterranean, marks the beginning of Catalonian tourism and the Gateway to the Costa Brava. Blanes is situated about 60 km north of Barcelona and the coastal resort is well placed to do a bit of touring and exploring. You might need to make time though as it can be a tough job dragging the kids away from all the water parks and play areas. Charming and picturesque, Blane holidays offer a lovely introduction to the wild and rugged Coast.

Holidays in Blanes are all about the family and the kids. There are oodles of children’s activities from water parks, kids parks, playgrounds, go-karting and even fun areas in museums with games laid on! That’s before you even get started on the beach! A fine crescent of soft golden hued sand, the beach is the centre point of the resort, backed by an attractive promenade with cafes and al fresco restaurants. A lot of the attraction of Blanes too though is the fact that it still has the feel of an authentic Catalan seaside town. There is a distinct charm in the layout of the streets and the town still has an active fishing fleet, so the past has not been lost. The shops are many and varied and, although there are touristy shops, the local “feel” is uppermost. An international fireworks display every year - el Focs de Blanes - draws crowds from all over north eastern Spain for the pyrotechnic spectacular.

Activities

Visit the water park. Try go-karting. See the fireworks display. Travel to Barcelona for a great day trip and see the Olympic Stadium and the famous Cathedral Sagrada Familia. Go further south to PortAventura for a theme park experience of a lifetime! Visit L'Estartit or Lloret de Mar.
