Welcome to L'Estartit

L'Estartit

At the northern end of Spain’s Costa Brava, the little seaside town of L’Estartit grew from the traditional roots of a fishing hamlet to the holiday resort it is today. L’Estartit has avoided the worst excesses of tourism though and has managed to keep a bit of that Spanish charm and old fashioned atmosphere which attracted visitors in the first place. Located about 150 km north of Barcelona and only an hour from the French border, the resort has a strategic situation. Close to the lovely University town of Girona too, L’Estarit is one of the Costa Brava’s pretty little secrets although the Irish have already discovered it! Sheltered by mountains (it lies at the foothills of Montgri Massif) and washed by the Mediterranean, L’Estartit holidays are a piece of summer heaven.

With about 5 km of glistening sandy beach and the Vell Nature Reserve at one end, life on holidays to L’Estartit is lived outdoors in the warm summer season. In fact, a lot of it is lived underwater too as Les Medes (Illes Medes) Islands offshore provide hugely rich marine life and some of the best scuba diving areas of the Mediterranean. Snorkelling, sea kayaking, diving and sailing are really popular pastimes and, even with swimming and beach lounging, the beach is never overcrowded. There are 3 secluded coves too where even more privacy is possible too. Make sure to go to the nearby town of Figueres (about 40 km away) to visit the Salvador Dali museum and see his amazing works of surreal art. Take the kids to the fun park and enjoy the many family friendly cafes and restaurants in the resort. L’Estartit is laid back and relaxed, so don’t come here for crazy nightlife or fast paced action. This is very much a family style resort with amenities to match.

A current, valid Passport is necessary for all visitors to Spain. Irish citizens do not need a visa.
